We are seeking a candidate for a post-doctoral position within the field of single molecule magnets. The position is for two years. In case further external funding is secured within the academic area the candidates are assessed obviously qualified for, an extension is possible for up to a total maximum of four years of employment as a postdoc.

The post doc position is aimed at synthesis and characterization of single molecule magnet materials. Candidates must have strong experience in air and moisture sensitive molecular synthesis and magnetic property measurements. Furthermore, the candidate must have experience in structural characterization using single crystal X-ray crystallography.

The starting date is expected to be October 15, 2023 or as soon as possible.
The place of work is Langelandsgade 140, 8000 Aarhus C, DK.

The successful candidates will be involved in materials research in collaboration with other members of the Iversen group. The candidates must have a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or similar. The Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University (www.chem.au.dk) is one of the leading European chemistry departments with a broad research program. It has a permanent staff of ~35 full and associate professors, a support-staff of ~30 people, ~150 PhD-students and postdocs and around 500 students. The Iversen group is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) (www.inano.au.dk) as well as the Aarhus Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT) (www.imat.au.dk). iMAT integrates a diverse range of basic and applied materials research areas across departments and centers and thereby strongly contribute to solving some of the Grand Challenges of modern society.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.


Letter of reference

Formalities and salary range


Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
